Where to Go on your African Honeymoon

(c) Under One Botswana Sky

Botswana:

Glide through the mesmerising and pristine waterways of the Okavango Delta in a mokoro; sleep under a blanket of stars; experience abundant wildlife from boats and on 4×4 game drives. With sophisticated safari camps and lodges, a Botswana honeymoon is the epitome of luxury, privacy and unparalleled game-viewing.

Best time to go: May – October

South Africa

South Africa:

South Africa’s private reserves offer a diverse selection of  safari accommodation, from authentic bush camps to contemporary luxury lodges, all with exciting wildlife encounters on guided 4×4 safaris. Combine this with vibrant and cosmopolitan cities, beautiful beaches, world-class restaurants and vineyards, to create a diverse and adventurous honeymoon itinerary.

Best time to go: Safaris in the north of the country are best during the winter months of June – October. Cape Town and the Garden Route are best through the summer months, from October to March.

Ballooning over Sossusvlei, Namibia, Wilderness Safaris

Namibia:

Possibly not a classic safari destination, but Namibia has enormous appeal, offering vast open, mesmerising landscapes, eclectic accommodations, adventure, and excellent wildlife viewing in Etosha National Park and surrounding private reserves. Opt to fly between destinations, or Namibia is a perfect self-drive honeymoon destination for the more adventurous.

Best time to go: With little rain, Namibia is a good year-round destination, but for wildlife viewing, the winter months from June to October are best.

... and Relax!

Malawi:

Malawi is perhaps a less obvious honeymoon destination, but the Warm Heart of Africa may surprise you! With great wildlife-viewing, colourful and friendly culture, and some of our favourite romantic beach lodges located along the shores of the 365 mile-long freshwater Lake Malawi. Or combine sailing, kayaking, paddling and snorkelling at a Malawi beach lodge with a Big 5 Safari in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park for a truly unforgettable and wildly romantic honeymoon!

Best time to go: May – October.
